At Petersburg Veterinary Clinic, we are here to help you establish the health of your puppy and ensure that your new companion receives everything they need to have a healthy start. It’s important to bring your new puppy in for an exam as soon as possible to establish good health. Premature and young puppies are especially likely to experience medical issues as their immune system is not yet fully developed and may be more susceptible illness.

Vaccination Plans

We believe in creating a personalized vaccine schedule that is tailored for your puppy’s needs to maximize the protection against any diseases he or she is likely to be exposed to. There are many diseases that are preventable through the judicious use of vaccines, so it is important to create an individualized protocol early in life to protect both your puppy and your family.

Microchipping Your Puppy

Just as vaccines protect your pet from disease and illness, microchips help keep your puppy safe if they are lost. The unique identifier in your pet’s microchip will help bring them home safely, providing shelters and animal hospitals with your contact information to reunite you with your pet.

Preparing for the Exam

For your puppy’s first visit, we request that you bring the following:

• Your puppy on a leash or in a dog carrier
• All paperwork pertaining to the previous care of your puppy including all previous immunizations, deworming, medications and any veterinary records you may have
• Any questions you may have regarding your puppy’s health or behavior
